Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Lake Vangsvatnet

The afternoon warms you up with a road cycling tour around the lake – approximately 22 kilometers. Along the way you will hear fun facts and historical retellings of the region, and how it made its mark in Norway’s history books. You will also stop at Bordalsgjelet – a deep and scenic gorge with a fun hiking trail. (2,5 hours)

Hotel check-in from 1pm onwards. Activity check-in for day one at 2:30pm

Day 2 - Nærøyfjord

Your second-day adventure kicks off at Basecamp with a classic sea kayaking tour on the Naeroyfjord, the most beautiful and wildest arm of the Sognefjord is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Naerøyfjord which offers incredible views of cascading waterfalls, unique nature and wildlife, and historic farms that have been clinging to the mountainside for centuries. Along the way we will make a couple of stops to enjoy not only snacks and refreshments but to photograph some of the area’s most iconic landscapes. A full day of quiet, peace and tranquility in Norway’s iconic fjord region before returning to Voss and checking into your accommodation. (7 hours total incl. transportation).

Day 3 - Mountains & fjord hike

After breakfast, you will be picked up and taken to Mt. Oksen: a classic and breathtaking mountain that stands a little over 1,200 meters above sea level. The trail begins in Tjoflot and winds its way nearly 1000 meters vertically from the car park through steep forest, before opening up and offering views of the surrounding fjords and mountains. The top offers a 360-degree panorama picture of Samlafjorden, Sørfjorden, Eidfjorden and Granvinsfjorden, as well as Norway’s third largest glacier: Folgefonna. All these fjords mentioned are branches of Hardangerfjord, the second biggest fjord in Norway.

The day will end back at your accommodation where you will have the rest of the day at leisure. (7 to 8 hours total incl. transportation).

Day 4 - Vosso river + Voss forest

After breakfast, day three starts at Basecamp and will make the most out of Voss’s central landmark: The Vosso River and Lake Vangsvatnet.

River guided SUP boarding tour. Propelled by your paddle, you will get to enjoy Voss from a different, and slower, perspective. Take your time as you explore the River and the lake’s shoreline, admiring the small life that finds refuge there, as well as experiencing the stunningly clear, blue water that flows at the Vosso River. (2,5 hours).

After returning to base and enjoying a lunch break, your day will be wrapped up with a mountain biking ride on some of Voss’s most beloved single track. With three options available for two-wheel exploration, anyone, no matter their skill level, can explore Voss’s mountain bike scene in comfort and style with our high-quality full suspension mountain bikes (2 to 2,5 hours)

Day 5 - Raundal river

After breakfast, you will meet at Basecamp for your final day of adventure, with the magnificent Raundal River. Here you will explore Norwegian nature from an inflatable raft while learning new skills, challenging yourself, and working as a team. Known as a northern European mecca for whitewater kayaking, the river offers playful sections for rafters looking to enjoy grade III rapids.

The sweat you build up while paddling will be rewarded with cooling swims in the clear river pools and waterfalls found along the way. (3 hours incl. transportation).

From here (around 1:30 pm) you will say goodbye and take great memories from your adventure time in Western Norway

Do I need prior experience to go on this tour?

No, you do not need any prior experience at all. However, you should be able to swim and ride a bike.

This hiking trip is demanding. It requires good physichal health, but not prior experience. As long as you do not shy away from hiking uphill, you are fully qualified for this trip.

The majority of our guests are first-timers, and our trips, equipment, and briefings are tailored to make beginners feel comfortable. Our experienced guides will offer a safety orientation before you embark on each activity.

Do we need to be physically fit to go on this trip?

Yes, we suggest that all participants in our experiences have good physical health.

Keep in mind, that the hike features over 900m of elevation gain.

If you have any medical concerns but still wish to go on these activities, we always advise consulting with your doctor beforehand.

Is this trip appropriate for seniors?

There's no upper age limit for our tours; as long as you're physically fit, you're more than welcome to join us!

Will I fall out the raft, kayak or SUP-board? If I do, what should I do?

Our primary goal is for everyone to stay safely in the boats and boards, but surprisingly, some actually enjoy the thrill of going overboard. It can be initially disorienting, yet exhilarating. Many people have taken multiple trips and never fallen in, while some experience it on their first outing. It's all part of the water experiences.

Before starting the activities, you'll receive thorough guidance on handling an unexpected dip and how to navigate the water confidently. By following your guide's instructions, your unexpected 'swim' might just become the highlight of your adventure—a tale to share with friends later on!

What is the best time of the year to go on this tour?

Our beautiful Fjord landscapes and rivers transition notably between May and October, each month offering unique attractions for travel.

For the sunniest and most stable weather, June through late August stands out prominently. Hence, our 5-day tour primarily operates during these months.

However, the breathtaking beauty of the Raundal Canyon, Naerøyfjord, and Voss ensures a fantastic experience throughout the entire season.

Should I tip my guide?

Tipping isn't customary in Norway, as it is e.g. in the USA. Our guides put in considerable effort to ensure your experience is both enjoyable and safe, maintaining the high standards set by Outdoor Norway.

While tipping is recognized as a standard practice in the industry and is always welcomed, it's never an obligation. It's entirely up to your discretion whether you choose to leave a tip. Your appreciation for the service provided is greatly valued either way.

Can I leave my bag/luggage at the base?

Yes absolutely, that's not an issue at all.

We have shelves available for storing your belongings while you're out on a tour. Rest assured, there's always a member of our staff present at the base, so your items will be securely looked after— nothing goes missing on our watch!

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes.

Upon joining any activity, a waiver acknowledging risks must be read and signed. For minors, a parent or guardian is required to sign the waiver.
