Experience More Than a Day Tour
The best adventures don't fit into a single afternoon.
The Explorer is our two-day combo tour, combining fjord kayaking, e-mountain biking, and whitewater rafting into one carefully planned journey through Western Norway. You'll paddle the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, ride mountain trails around Voss, and finish on the exciting rapids of the Raundal River. Weather permitting, we'll also include a ride on the Voss Gondola, offering another perspective of the surrounding mountains. Guides, equipment, and transport are organised throughout, so you can spend two days exploring instead of planning.
- Easy to medium activities
- Certified Expert Guides
- Teamwork, laughs and thrills
- All Gear Included
Tour Highlights
Some places deserve more than a quick visit.
Two days outdoors let you experience the changing landscapes of Western Norway, from calm fjord waters in the morning to forest trails by afternoon and whitewater rapids the following day. That progression through different environments is what makes The Explorer more than a typical day tour.
Every activity reveals a different side of Western Norway.
Day one begins with a guided fjord kayaking tour on the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, paddling beneath towering cliffs before switching to an e-mountain bike ride through the forests and hills surrounding Voss. Day two finishes on the Raundal River, where you'll work together with your guide to navigate exciting whitewater rapids. Three activities, three landscapes, one unforgettable journey.
Planning three outdoor activities across different locations usually means multiple bookings and plenty of coordination.
The Explorer brings everything together into one seamless itinerary. Guides, equipment, and transport between each activity are already arranged. If weather conditions allow, we'll also include a ride on the Voss Gondola, with no extra planning required from you.
The best memories come from watching a place change over the course of a trip.
One day you're paddling beneath the towering cliffs of the Nærøyfjord. The next you're riding mountain trails before finishing on the rapids of the Raundal River. Between each activity you'll travel through valleys, forests, and villages that many visitors only glimpse from the road. Two days in Voss reveal a broader side of Western Norway than most travellers experience through separate day tours.

Still Have Questions?
No, you do not need any prior experience at all. The majority of our guests are first-timers, and our trips, equipment, and briefings are tailored to make beginners feel comfortable. Our experienced guides will offer a safety orientation before you embark on each activity and will provide continuous guidance throughout the tours.
Yes, we suggest that all participants in our experiences have good physical health. If you have any medical concerns but still wish to go on this combo tour, we always advise consulting with your doctor beforehand.
Whitewater rafting carries inherent risk, like any water activity, but it's one of the most heavily briefed parts of the tour. Every trip starts with a full safety orientation, and your guide is trained to read the river and keep the group together through the rapids. A waiver is required before you go, which is standard for the industry, not a sign the activity is riskier than it looks.
The minimum age is 7 years old, with a parent or guardian signing the waiver on their behalf. There's also a maximum weight of 120kg (265lbs) across the activities, and we ask that all participants are in good physical health going in.
The Explorer runs 4256 NOK per adult and 3831 NOK per youth, covering guides, transport, and equipment for both days.
For rafting: swimwear (to wear under the wetsuit), thermal underwear (if cold), extra clothes for changing after the trip, a towel, and sunscreen. Regarding weather conditions: all water activities are fantastic whether it's sunny or rainy! For mountain biking: clothing suitable for biking, focus on comfort, thermal underwear (for colder conditions), your own gloves (for comfort or warmth), a windstopper or rain jacket (for windy or cold weather), sunscreen, sunglasses, and enough water for the tour. Optional: your own pedals or saddle.
Rafting and kayaking go ahead in rain or shine, water activities don't lose much by way of weather. The one piece of the trip that's weather-dependent is the Voss Gondola, which only runs when conditions allow, so it's included when possible rather than guaranteed.
You don't need to be an expert swimmer, but basic swimming ability is a requirement for the water activities. It's genuinely common to end up in the water at some point on the kayak or in the rapids. Before you set out, your guide walks you through exactly what to do if that happens and how to get back on. Follow their instructions and it usually turns into the best story from the trip, not the scariest part.
Yes, absolutely! We have a high quality triple kayak from Prijon, which fits 2 people and your furry friend! Just let us know in advance, and we will make sure that the kayak is reserved for you!
Yes it is! The mountain bike is included, saving you the hassle of bringing your own bike across continents.
Yes, absolutely! Our mountain bikes are equipped with standard flat pedals featuring pins. However, we also offer clip-in SPD and Crankbrothers pedals for those who prefer using clip-in shoes. If you wish to utilize your own pedals and/or saddle, kindly bring them along, and upon your arrival, we'll happily replace them for you. To ensure we accommodate your preferences smoothly, please notify us in advance by replying to your booking confirmation email. This way, we can prepare accordingly for your visit.
Tipping isn't customary in Norway, as it is e.g. in the USA. Our guides put in considerable effort to ensure your experience is both enjoyable and safe, maintaining the high standards set by Outdoor Norway. While tipping is recognized as a standard practice in the industry and is always welcomed, it's never an obligation. It's entirely up to your discretion whether you choose to leave a tip. Your appreciation for the service provided is greatly valued either way.
Yes absolutely, that's not an issue at all. We have shelves available for storing your belongings while you're out on a tour. Rest assured, there's always a member of our staff present at the base, so your items will be securely looked after, nothing goes missing on our watch!
Yes. Upon joining any activity, a waiver acknowledging risks must be read and signed. For minors, a parent or guardian is required to sign the waiver.
