Tour highlights with happy adventurers who visiting the Fjords of Norway in 2026

Many Norway fjord tours focus on sightseeing from buses, trains, or cruise ships. This adventure is different.

Instead of simply looking at the landscape, you'll actively experience it through kayaking on the fjords, hiking above dramatic valleys, rafting wild rivers, and travelling through some of Western Norway's most breathtaking scenery.

Based in Voss, Norway's adventure capital, the tour combines several iconic outdoor experiences into one seamless itinerary. You'll visit multiple fjord regions, explore lesser-known locations away from the busiest tourist routes, and gain local insights from guides who spend hundreds of days each year in these mountains, rivers, and fjords. The result is a far more immersive and memorable Fjord Norway adventure than traditional sightseeing trips.

MTB rides in the Fjords of Norway

Fjord Norway is one of the most spectacular natural regions in Europe, home to towering mountains, deep blue fjords, cascading waterfalls, and some of the most scenic roads and hiking trails in the world. This is the Norway most travellers imagine when planning their trip: dramatic landscapes shaped by glaciers over thousands of years and protected by a strong culture of outdoor living.

The region is also home to several UNESCO-listed fjords, including Nærøyfjord, and offers an incredible variety of experiences within relatively short distances. In a single day, you can paddle beneath towering cliffs, hike above panoramic viewpoints, and enjoy traditional Norwegian villages surrounded by pristine wilderness. Few destinations offer such a diverse combination of adventure, scenery, and accessibility.

5 DAY FJORD NORWAY ADVENTURE PACKAGE 2025 54

The best time to visit Fjord Norway is between May and September, when longer daylight hours, mild temperatures, and accessible trails create ideal conditions for outdoor adventures. During this period, visitors can enjoy hiking, kayaking, rafting, cycling, and sightseeing across the region's mountains and fjords.

June, July, and August offer the warmest weather and the longest days, while May and September often provide quieter trails and fewer visitors. Thanks to Norway's extended summer daylight, you'll have more time to explore the landscape and make the most of every activity. For travellers seeking the perfect balance of adventure, scenery, and comfortable conditions, summer is the ideal season to experience Fjord Norway.

How Does This Compare To Other Norway Adventure Tours?

Most Norway adventure tours are either single-activity day trips or loose itineraries you piece together yourself. This package is structured differently. You will spend five  consecutive planned, guided, and fully equipped days across six activities, including fjord kayaking on a UNESCO World Heritage fjord, a 1,200-metre summit hike, river rafting, SUP boarding, and mountain biking.

This trip is designed for travelers who want proper immersion rather than a one-day sampler. If you've been looking at Norway adventure trips that cover real ground without the planning overhead, this adventure is just what you need.

What Should I Bring With Me On This Multiday Tour?

For water activities:
- Swimwear (to wear under the wetsuit)
- Thermal underwear (if cold)
- Extra clothes for changing after the trip
- Towel
- Sunscreen
- Lunch snacks for sea kayaking

Regarding weather conditions:
River canoeing is fantastic whether it's sunny or rainy!

For mountain biking:
- Clothing suitable for biking, focus on comfort
- Thermal underwear (for colder conditions)
- Own gloves (for comfort or warmth)
- Windstopper jacket or rain jacket (for windy or cold weather)
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Enough water for the tour

Optional: Own pedals or saddle

For the hiking tour, attire should be weather-appropriate and might include:
- Appropriate footwear
- Small backpack
- Plenty of water for the whole day
- Lunch
- Sunscreen
- Sunhat
- Water repellent jacket
- Set of extra clothes, e.g. socks, shirt etc.

Do we need to be physically to go on this trip?

The Frictionless Firm Roadmap — a structured, prioritized plan covering your most significant HubSpot friction points across six areas, with clear recommendations organized by impact and effort. It distinguishes quick wins from longer structural fixes and tells you what to address first for the most operating leverage at your firm's current size and stage.

Do I Need Prior Experience To Go On This Tour?

No, you do not need any prior experience at all. However, you should be able to swim and ride a bike.

This hiking trip is demanding. It requires good physichal health, but not prior experience. As long as you do not shy away from hiking uphill, you are fully qualified for this trip.

The majority of our guests are first-timers, and our trips, equipment, and briefings are tailored to make beginners feel comfortable. Our experienced guides will offer a safety orientation before you embark on each activity.

Do We Need To Be Physically Fit To Go On This Trip?

Yes, we suggest that all participants in our experiences have good physical health.

Keep in mind, that the hike features over 900m of elevation gain.

If you have any medical concerns but still wish to go on these activities, we always advise consulting with your doctor beforehand.

Is This Trip Appropriate For Seniors?

There's no upper age limit for our tours; as long as you're physically fit, you're more than welcome to join us!

Will I Fall Out The Raft, Kayak Or Sup-Board? If I Do, What Should I Do?

Our primary goal is for everyone to stay safely in the boats and boards, but surprisingly, some actually enjoy the thrill of going overboard. It can be initially disorienting, yet exhilarating. Many people have taken multiple trips and never fallen in, while some experience it on their first outing. It's all part of the water experiences.

Before starting the activities, you'll receive thorough guidance on handling an unexpected dip and how to navigate the water confidently. By following your guide's instructions, your unexpected 'swim' might just become the highlight of your adventure a tale to share with friends later on!

What Is The Best Time Of The Year To Go On This Tour?

Our beautiful Fjord landscapes and rivers transition notably between May and October, each month offering unique attractions for travel.

For the sunniest and most stable weather, June through late August stands out prominently. Hence, our 5-day tour primarily operates during these months.

However, the breathtaking beauty of the Raundal Canyon, Naerøyfjord, and Voss ensures a fantastic experience throughout the entire season.

Should I Tip My Guide?

Tipping isn't customary in Norway, as it is e.g. in the USA. Our guides put in considerable effort to ensure your experience is both enjoyable and safe, maintaining the high standards set by Outdoor Norway.

While tipping is recognized as a standard practice in the industry and is always welcomed, it's never an obligation. It's entirely up to your discretion whether you choose to leave a tip. Your appreciation for the service provided is greatly valued either way.

Is The 5-Day Fjord Norway Adventure Package Available As A Private Booking?

Yes, the scheduled departures run as small-group tours, but the 5-day Fjord Norway adventure package is also available as a private booking outside those dates. If you're in a private group, you can shape the dates and group size to suit your plans.

Among the fjord Norway tours we run, this is the one most frequently requested as a private experience. Complete the inquiry form above and we'll put together a quote.

We're Planning A Longer Norway Holiday. Where Does This Five-Day Package Fit In?

This five-day package works very well as  the active centerpiece to a wider trip.

Most guests fly into Bergen, take the just-over-one-hour train to Voss, and build this package into the first or middle stretch of their stay. From Voss, you're well-placed to continue independently to other parts of the country.

For anyone planning adventure holidays in Norway, Voss is a strong base because of its central position between Bergen and the major fjord regions.

If you want five structured, guided days of adventures in Norway before or after travelling on your own, this package gives you exactly that.

Do I Need To Sign A Waiver?

Yes. Upon joining any activity, a waiver acknowledging risks must be read and signed. For minors, a parent or guardian is required to sign the waiver.

What Fjords does this tour visit?

During this multi-day adventure, you will visit some of the most iconic landscapes in Fjord Norway, including the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord and the spectacular Hardangerfjord region.

Throughout the tour, you’ll experience dramatic mountain scenery, narrow fjord passages, waterfalls, and many of the remote valleys that made Western Norway one of the world’s top outdoor destinations.

The itinerary combines kayaking, hiking, rafting, and biking across different parts of the region. You’ll get a broader and more active experience of Fjord Norway than a traditional sightseeing tour.

Is Fjord Norway worth visiting?

We might be biased, but absolutely!

According to numerous top 10 lists, Fjord Norway is one of the most spectacular natural regions in Europe, famous for UNESCO-protected fjords, steep mountain landscapes, waterfalls, glaciers, and outdoor adventure opportunities. It’s one of the best destinations in the world if you want to combine nature, activity, and unforgettable scenery in one trip.

What makes Fjord Norway especially unique is the variety of experiences that you can enjoy packed into a relatively small region. In just a few days, you can kayak through narrow fjords, hike a mountain trail, raft across a glacial river, and explore a charming Viking-era village!

How does this trip compare to Norway in a Nutshell?

Norway in a Nutshell is a self-guided transport itinerary which is mainly focused on trains, buses, and fjord cruises between Bergen, Flåm, and Oslo. It’s a cool option for travellers who want a comfortable sightseeing experience with minimal physical activity.

The 5-Day Fjord Norway Adventure Tour is completely different. It’s designed for travellers who want to actively enjoy the landscapes instead of just viewing them from transport routes and cruise decks.

Rather than focusing on transit and sightseeing stops, our tour includes guided kayaking, rafting, hiking, biking, and outdoor experiences all across Fjord Norway, based from Voss and with accommodation, equipment & logistics included.

Why Outdoor Norway?

Outdoor Norway is built by passionate outdoor professionals who believe adventure should do more than just entertain; it should inspire, empower, and create a deeper connection with nature. Based in Voss, our team combines local knowledge, professional guiding, and years of experience across kayaking, rafting, hiking, biking, and multi-day adventures to create unforgettable experiences in Fjord Norway.

Safety, sustainability, and meaningful experiences are at the core of everything we do. As a certified Eco Lighthouse (Miljøfyrtårn) company, we’re committed to low-impact tourism, responsible travel practices, and protecting the landscapes we explore for future generations. Small-group adventures to expert-led experiences, our goal is simple: to help you experience the best of Norway in a way that feels authentic, active, and unforgettable.
