Inside Outdoor Norway's People Culture After 10 Years

Ten years in Voss. Here is how Outdoor Norway has built an international team, a people-first culture, and a workplace worth joining.

Written by: Antima Bala Vijay

Ten years ago, Outdoor Norway started with one mission: get people into the mountains and rivers around Voss. The adventures are still the point. Behind every guided descent and rafting session, there is a team that makes it happen. Building that team over a decade has become a story worth telling.

A Team That Comes from Everywhere

Outdoor Norway is an international workplace. The team draws people from different countries, cultures, and continents, and that mix shapes how we work every day.

Diversity does not sort itself out automatically. Different communication styles, different expectations, and different ways of approaching problems take real effort to align. When new team members join, we support them in understanding how we operate and what we expect from each other. That process goes both ways.

What the whole team shares, regardless of background, is the same focus: creating safe, memorable adventures for every guest who arrives in Voss.

How We Support the People Here

As the team has grown, so has our focus on how we run things behind the scenes. Career development, clear communication, and structured training are not goals we are working toward. They are the parts of day-to-day operations we keep improving.

Since 2025, we have used Keka to organize HR processes and Keka Hire to run recruitment more consistently. For new joiners, that means a more structured onboarding experience from day one. For candidates, it means a cleaner process from first contact to offer. We also use Tripletex for accounting, alongside other tools that keep daily operations running clearly across the team. The goal with all of it is the same: reduce the friction that gets in the way of people doing good work.

Ten Years In

Marking a decade is a useful pause. A chance to look at what has worked, what has not, and where the focus needs to go next. For Outdoor Norway, the work stays the same: put people in the mountains and on the rivers around Voss, and keep the team that makes it possible running well.
