The easiest activity is the Hanguren Panorama Trail, a short circular route beginning near the top station.
The trail is approximately 800 metres to one kilometre long, depending on how the route is described, and is designed to be accessible to a wide range of visitors.
You get great views over Voss, the surrounding mountains and nearby lakes. The gravel surface is suitable for strollers, although some wheelchair users may require assistance depending on wheel size and conditions.
Along the route, you will also find the Hangur Swing, or Hangurshusko, one of the area’s most popular photography spots.
Go Hiking
Hangurstoppen is the starting point for numerous marked hiking routes, from short walks to demanding mountain day hikes.
One of the major objectives is Lønahorgi, which rises to 1,410 metres. On a clear day, the summit is lets you admire several uniqueglaciers, including Fresvikbreen, Hardangerjøkulen, Vossaskavlen and Folgefonna.
Another option is to walk towards the Voss day-trip cabin, approximately two kilometres from Hangurstoppen along the signed Grebbeløypa route. The cabin is an attractive picnic stop and can be incorporated into routes descending towards Voss.
If you're planning a longer trail, bring proper footwear, suitable clothing and mountain wits. Snow can remain at higher elevations well into summer, and the usual hiking season often runs from late June until late October, depending on conditions.
Experience Winter at Voss Resort

If you need a break at the top, head to Hangurstoppen Restaurant, located beside the upper gondola station.
At approximately 808 metres above sea level, the restaurant is a mix of panoramic views with a menu that ranges from simple café food to more substantial meals. It places an emphasis on homemade dishes and locally sourced ingredients.
With seating for approximately 450 guests, it is one of the largest restaurants in the Voss area. Both warm and cold dishes are available, although the menu and service format may change according to the season.

Hangurstoppen to Lønahorgi

Lønahorgi is one of the area’s classic summit hikes. Climbing up to 1,410 metres will give you a much bigger sense of wilderness than the short trails around the gondola. Conditions can be significantly colder and more exposed at the summit, even when Voss is warm.
Hike Between Hangurstoppen and Voss
Best for: Visitors who want to combine the gondola with a longer walk
Taking the gondola in one direction and hiking in the other allows you to experience both the views and the forested slopes above town. A descent may sound easy, but prolonged downhill walking can be demanding on the knees and slippery after rain.

Voss is roughly 100 kilometres from Bergen. You can travel by train, bus or car, although the train is often the simplest option for visitors staying in central Bergen.
From Oslo
The Bergen Line connects Oslo and Voss, making it possible to include the gondola in a wider rail journey across Norway. Journey times are considerably longer than from Bergen, so most travellers stay overnight rather than visiting as a day trip from Oslo.
By Car
Drivers can follow the main road into Voss and use public parking in or near the town centre. Parking availability and restrictions vary, particularly during events and peak winter weekends.
Because the gondola begins beside the transport station, there is usually little reason to drive up into the surrounding mountain area merely to access Hangurstoppen.
