Best Powder After Fresh Snow

Morning

Take one of the first gondolas of the day.

Early mornings usually bring quieter slopes, firmer snow, and the clearest mountain views. Start by warming up on Hangursløypa before exploring Panorama and the surrounding red runs while they're freshly groomed.

Midday

Once you've found your rhythm, head higher towards Horgaletten.

Spend the middle of the day exploring the resort's longer descents before stopping for lunch at Hangurstoppen Restaurant, where panoramic views across the surrounding mountains are almost as memorable as the skiing itself.

Afternoon

If fresh snow has fallen, this is the perfect time to explore the upper mountain again.

Otherwise, enjoy the longer runs back towards Bavallen while the afternoon sun lights up the valley below. These quieter hours often provide some of the most enjoyable skiing of the day.

Snow Conditions in Voss

One of Voss's biggest strengths is the consistency of its winter conditions.

Thanks to its location between the North Sea and the mountains of Western Norway, Atlantic weather systems regularly deliver fresh snowfall throughout the season. Voss vs Myrkdalen

These two neighbouring resorts are often compared, and many visitors choose to ski both during the same trip.

Voss is ideal if you want an authentic mountain town, direct train access from Bergen, lively restaurants, and a mix of resort skiing and other winter activities.

Myrkdalen, around 30 minutes away by car, has reliable snowfall, gentle terrain, and family-friendly atmosphere. It's particularly popular with powder skiers thanks to its higher elevation and consistently deep snow.

Voss vs Hemsedal

Voss, by comparison, offers a more relaxed atmosphere, easier access by public transport, and you can mix the skiing with fjord experiences, snowshoeing, and winter sightseeing.

Voss vs Trysil
