Career Opportunities:-

Mountain Biking Instructor / Coach

Are you a biking enthusiast with a knack for teaching? At Outdoor Norway, as a Mountain Bike Instructor/Coach, you’ll lead biking excursions through Voss’ picturesque trails, catering to clients of varying abilities on diverse terrain.

Your role goes beyond navigating paths; it involves imparting knowledge and skills to enthusiasts at all levels, from beginners seeking guidance to seasoned riders honing their techniques. Confidence on steep, technical terrain and basic bike maintenance skills are essential. Adaptability and fitness are key, as you tailor experiences to individual needs and abilities, involving up to 5 hours of riding a day. Exceptional leadership, group management, and logistical planning abilities are a must for delivering unforgettable biking experiences. Rain or shine, our trips run, demanding instructors with unwavering enthusiasm and dedication.

Requirements:

  • Mountain Bike Guide Qualification (e.g. PMBIA, MBLA, Level 1, etc.)
  • Valid and up-to-date first-aid certification, including CPR (minimum 16-hour course)
  • Full, clean driver’s licence enabling passenger transportation and trailer towing
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English at an excellent level

Rafting Guide – outdoor guide

For those drawn to water adventures, the role of a Rafting Guide awaits your expertise. Your days will revolve around navigating exhilarating whitewater rivers, rafting through rapids, and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our clients on the rafting trips. In this role, your expertise in reading currents, handling up to Grade III & IV whitewater, and understanding river dynamics will be pivotal in delivering unforgettable rafting experiences. This position demands strong interpersonal skills, high levels of customer service, and adept group management. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are crucial for adapting trips to individual needs and expectations, requiring flexibility and adaptability to ensure each experience is tailored for maximum enjoyment.

Key requirements:

  • Rafting Guide Certification in guiding rivers Grade III and above for rafting, or a minimum of three years’ experience on Grade III & IV rivers
  • Whitewater kayaking qualification or a minimum of three years’ experience guiding on Grade III & IV whitewater
  • Current first-aid certification, including CPR (minimum 16-hour course within the last 3 years)
  • Driver’s licence category BE, allowing the operation of a car for up to 8 passengers and towing a trailer
  • Proficient spoken and written English skills at an excellent level

Kayaking Guide – outdoor guide

Your mastery of different techniques and local water bodies will craft enchanting experiences for our clients. Leading kayaking tours, educating participants on safety measures, and sharing your passion for exploring the ancient scenic waters will be your forte.

Your days will be spent navigating the breathtaking Norwegian fjords, leading groups of adventurers while prioritising their safety and enjoyment. Your expertise in weather conditions, skillfully adjusting trips to match guests’ abilities, and seamlessly introducing kayaking skills will shape unforgettable experiences. This role demands exceptional interpersonal skills, a commitment to high-quality customer service, and adept group management. Critical thinking and problem-solving will be vital for tailoring trips to individual needs, demanding flexibility and adaptability to ensure each adventure is custom-tailored for maximum enjoyment.

Chief Director of Good Times, Franco first came to Norway in 2010 as a rafting guide & safety kayaker. In 2011 he landed in Voss, where he quickly discovered the incredible and vastly varied opportunities the surrounding nature had to offer. As an experienced International tandem paraglider pilot, professional whitewater kayaker, mountain biker, skier, and certified yoga teacher, he knew he could use his background in fitness to help others use their bodies to discover Voss the same way he did. With over 23 years spent in the outdoor sports industry, he leads the team with a diverse array of knowledge and tools to ensure that the adventures we offer bring nothing but smiles, laughter, and a desire to learn more.
